Caring for our Forests: Reforestation and Stewardship
April 27, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
“It’s a matter of life and death for this country. The Kenyan forests are facing extinction and it is a man-made problem.” – Wangari Maathai
“As stewards of God’s creation, we are called to make the earth a beautiful garden for the human family. When we destroy our forests, ravage our soil and pollute our seas, we betray that noble calling.” – Pope Francis
The loss of forests all over the world, has called into question the way we have used the resources of our planet. When we step out of the frame of ownership and into the idea of stewardship, we become protectors, rather than plunders of natural resources. All of nature is sacred. Replenishing the earth is an ancient practice that we have lost sight of. Our speakers will report about current work to save forests, improve policies, and engage governments and civil society to work together to preserve the lungs of the world.
Panel Presentation will be followed by interactive discussion.
